What's in a name?

As I prepared to venture out on my own - to launch what has now become Kindred Cove Psychotherapy - I felt as though the name I chose would define who I am, and perhaps who I am yet to become, in my role not only as a psychotherapist but as a female business owner/operator in the mental health space.
I wanted this name to convey the values I hope to embody in my work: connection, safety, support, authenticity. And to represent perhaps the most essential element of positive therapeutic outcomes: the nature & quality of the therapeutic relationship itself.
Thus, Kindred Cove was born of my mission to create an accessible (virtual!) therapy space where clients can experience safety, first and foremost. And second, a place of connection - of feeling reliably seen and supported.
"Kindred" refers to our shared humanity - the cornerstone of therapeutic connection. Of relatability. Of "seen-ness."
And "Cove," being a small protected harbour, is a symbol of safety - a shelter from the proverbial storm.
This fusion of safety and connection - intended to co-create a supportive therapeutic atmosphere where clients feel empowered to identify and pursue their therapy goals - is what Kindred Cove is all about.
